Carricitas Hunting Trip Documentary
For several years, I've been part of the annual company retreat to Carricitas Hunting Ranch. While my colleagues track game, I track moments—armed only with my trusty drone and tripod, capturing memories rather than trophies.

My mission on these trips has always been to create videos that transcend the typical slideshow of awkward group photos and bad iPhone videos. The creative breakthrough came unexpectedly when, after arranging everyone for a group shot, someone quipped, "We look like a sitcom ending in this shot." In that moment, an idea was born that would transform our annual documentation into something truly memorable.

Committed to authenticity, I immersed myself in late 80's television culture, studying countless sitcom intros to capture their distinctive essence. Every detail mattered—from the characteristic VHS grain and title design to finding the perfect cheesy soundtrack that would instantly transport viewers back in time. I even created a fictional "Channel 52, KRAP-TV Special Presentation" intro and incorporated authentic 80's commercials to complete the nostalgic illusion.
The project became a labor of love as I meticulously crafted each element to match the period aesthetic. Technical aspects like color grading, aspect ratio adjustments, and artificial degradation techniques were employed to recreate that unmistakable analog quality. Every transition, freeze-frame, and character introduction was choreographed to honor the sitcom traditions while playfully featuring our hunting trip companions.

When the video premiered at the company Christmas party, it was met with roars of laughter and applause—instantly achieving cult status among colleagues. What began as a creative alternative to traditional documentation has become one of my most celebrated creative projects, demonstrating how a playful concept, executed with attention to detail, can transform ordinary corporate documentation into something truly extraordinary.
